I started this charitable service in the 1990s because the EU made funding available for deprived areas such as North Paddington,
where I lived. The funding was intended to assist in raising the standard of life and living in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
I thought, "What my neighbours need is something to make them feel well, optimistic, energetic and able to tackle their
various challenges without the need for drugs; prescription or illicit."
Having seen the happy result of treatments given at the St James Piccadilly Health & Healing Centre, where I volunteered
as a receptionist, I felt that sort of service could achieve a lot of good for my disadvantaged neighbours. Generous therapists,
fully trained in a variety of complementary therapies, offered their help. With the help of my spare room and some donations
from a few sympathetic charities and local authorities, we were able to provide complementary therapies to people who most
needed a "leg up".
The offshoot of this service is that not only do the recipients feel better, are more optimistic and energetic, but their
families and wider circle of friends and community also benefit. In brief, we are in the business of restoration.
